A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Mayor.

Although not quite at the same level as sparing holiday birds, but the county's top official conducted a presidential-style act this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people shouting “six-seven” – deriving from a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The trend became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its top term for the year.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: vibrant, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Each year, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
