Arne Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for concerns to be raised about his future after another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points naturally but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell like this with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone again the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
