That Gruesome Cartoon Movie Conclusion That Stays With Audiences

Out of every adult-oriented animated films I have personally watched, nothing has remained with me quite like the fear-filled finale of the graphically gory and overwhelingly transgressive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, this Spanish filmmaker created a grim, somber , often savage world that included a few small , desolate twinges of optimism.

Although Unicorn Wars appears as it came from a desire to advance animation even more, the filmmaker explained that it was more a try to convey a global, multicultural theme regarding “the shared root of all wars.”

That idea is conveyed through a group of vividly colored bears , openly based on a well-known series of cuddly figures.

Growing up in a community centered on militarism as well as the military-industrial complex, many of the bears are consumed by killing unicorns, thanks to a holy book which states them they previously were rulers of the woods, before these creatures drove them out.

Others did not entirely bought into the brainwashing, , prefer to experiment with drugs and engage sexually in the forest.

In contrast to their gentle equivalents, these colorful critters display sexual organs , obvious sex drives.

For one notably brutal, cynical bear, Bluey, the war against unicorns transforms into a path to control — and especially to supremacy above his softer, more compassionate sibling the bear Tubby.

The character acts as a tormentor , an obvious antisocial figure , and while terror takes over his group and kills his teammates sequentially, he grabs increasingly power for himself, through ever more bloody, destructive ways.

Meanwhile, the unicorns are enduring their own nightmare, through a growing, harmful creature in their woods.

“At the beginning, it seems like a humorous movie,” the filmmaker commented. “However it turns into a more dramatic and melancholic film. And by the end, it’s a scary feature.”

Unicorn Wars commences feeling a bit like one of the more playful movies from a legendary filmmaker, which find a wicked pleasure in allowing cartoon characters curse, engage in violence, or engage sexually.

Subsequently it becomes more akin to a more grim movie from the same artist, with increasingly explicit brutality , a noticeable relation to the actual horror of battle.

By the end, it becomes a full-on theatrical horror bloodbath.

The horror which makes the film an ideal spooky-season watch begins much sooner than indicated.

The Unicorn Wars is one for the hardcore fans of gore, for lovers of extreme cinema who want to view something they’ve never viewed until now, and who can handle a plot that pulls no restraint.

See it with the lights off free from interruptions, and the finale will burrow under your skin and take up residence there.
